Independent Phlebotomy Jobs (NOW HIRING)

Location: Lancaster, OH 43130
Pay Rate: $16.00-$21.00/hour
Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM; Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM

We are seeking a reliable and experienced Phlebotomist to join our team in Lancaster, OH. This is a highly independent, patient-facing position responsible for performing blood draws, collecting and processing specimens, maintaining accurate documentation, and ensuring specimens are properly labeled and prepared for transportation.

The ideal candidate will be confident performing phlebotomy independently, have experience working with patients of all ages, and be comfortable completing a high volume of blood draws throughout the day.

• Perform blood draws and collect patient specimens using proper safety and handling protocols.
• Work directly with patients throughout the day, providing professional and compassionate service.
• Confidently perform independent phlebotomy procedures, including blood draws on older adults.
• Correctly identify patients and ensure specimens, tubes, and requisitions are accurately labeled and documented.
• Enter specimen and collection information into the computer system and maintain accurate records.
• Receive, identify, accession, and process specimens according to established procedures.
• Confirm specimens are correctly labeled and prepared for laboratory processing and courier transportation.
• Prepare specimens for transport, including accurately matching blood specimens to patients.
• Understand laboratory requisitioning and appropriate documentation for billing purposes.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and ensure adequate laboratory supplies are available.
• Sterilize and maintain equipment according to safety and laboratory protocols.
• Follow all departmental policies, procedures, and laboratory safety requirements.
• Provide quick, courteous, and professional customer service to patients, clients, and coworkers.
• Maintain required licensure or credentials as applicable.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Previous phlebotomy training or hands-on phlebotomy experience.
• Comfortable and confident performing phlebotomy independently.
• Experience performing blood draws on patients of varying ages, including older adults.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, patient-facing environment.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when labeling and processing specimens.

Phlebotomy certification is not required. Candidates with a Medical Assistant background may be considered if they have significant, hands-on experience performing a high volume of blood draws.

• 2+ years of laboratory training or experience in specimen collection and processing.
• Certification from the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians.
• Experience completing a high volume of blood draws independently.

• Monday-Thursday: 8:00 AM-5:00 PM (1-hour lunch)
• Friday: 8:00 AM-4:30 PM (30-minute lunch)

The Phlebotomist will perform blood draws and work directly with patients from the beginning to the end of each workday. The position can expect approximately 25 patients per day.
