Position: Medical Courier

Classification: 1099 NEC

Department: Lab

Reports To: Operations 

$125 per day


Job Summary

The Medical Courier is responsible for the safe, timely, and professional transportation of, laboratory specimens, supplies, equipment, prescriptions, and other materials between clinic locations, laboratories, hospitals, and business offices. This position plays a vital role in supporting patient care by ensuring deliveries are completed accurately, securely, and in compliance with company policies and HIPAA regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Pick up and deliver medical specimens, laboratory samples, medical records, prescriptions, office supplies, and equipment between designated locations.

Ensure all deliveries are completed accurately and within established timeframes.

Maintain the confidentiality and security of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

Obtain signatures and maintain documentation for deliveries and pickups as required.

Transport items safely to prevent loss, damage, or contamination.

Communicate effectively with clinic staff, laboratory personnel, and management regarding delivery schedules and issues.

Assist with inventory transfers and supply distribution between office locations.

Perform routine vehicle inspections and report maintenance concerns promptly.

Follow all traffic laws and company safety procedures.

Support clinic operations by performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Previous courier, delivery, healthcare, or transportation experience preferred.

Experience working in a medical environment is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Ability to prioritize routes and meet deadlines.

Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Basic knowledge of HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements.

Ability to safely lift and transport packages and supplies.

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the workday.

Ability to lift and carry up to 10 pounds and up to 30 pounds occasionally.

Ability to enter and exit a vehicle multiple times throughout the day.

Ability to work in various weather conditions.

Requirements / Travel 

Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Reliable transportation and proof of automobile insurance (if using a personal vehicle).

Ability to pass a background check and motor vehicle record review.

Ability to travel between multiple office locations as needed.

Work Environment

Frequent travel between clinic locations, laboratories, hospitals, and business offices.
