Job description

Genesis Technical is seeking a Sr. Structural Engineer for a long-term hybrid position in Mobile, AL.

  • 40 hours/week (OT may be required)
  • Must have the capability of working from home as well as in the plant (hybrid- 3 days in office)
  • Willing and able to travel as needed for project support

Job Details

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with a recognized accredited program (ABET) in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Minimum 8 years relevant work experience.
  • Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) preferred but not required.
  • Prior experience as a Project Manager on single discipline projects is a plus.
  • Prior experience as a CSA lead on major capital projects is a plus.
  • Ability to help support engineering staff on industrial projects that range from small to large capital size projects.
  • Ability to assemble and review bid packages for civil/structural work scopes.
  • Familiar with applicable engineering codes (IBC, AISC, ASCE, ACI, etc.) required
  • Experience with civil/structural analysis software (Risa 3D & Risa Foundation preferred).
  • Must be proficient with CAD software and Microsoft Office.
  • Has the ability to produce estimate level preliminary designs and material take-offs suitable for the level of the estimate being performed on a project.
  • Develop conceptual layouts and cost studies as necessary to determine the simplest, most efficient approach to solving engineering tasks.
  • Independently applies knowledge and continuously develops company quality program for CSA department.
  • Establishes related processes and promotes a culture that is conducive to quality.
  • Provides guidance and direction to others and supports continuous improvement and change management efforts.
  • Must be able to perform field work to gather relevant project data and provide construction support as required.
  • Has the knowledge and experience to check calculations made by other engineers to ensure code and specification conformance and good engineering practice.
