Job description

Matkin Hoover Engineering & Surveying is an established civil engineering and land surveying firm in Boerne, Texas with branch offices in Georgetown, Texas and Spring, Texas, and is looking for a well-organized and professional person to perform the duties of Survey Party Chief.
The Survey Party Chief will plan and evaluate proposed field survey projects, manage the field survey teams, prepare, process, and coordinate the required field design survey work and construction staking survey work and other surveys and daily survey logs as part of public and private commercial, residential, and industrial development projects based on client's intent/vision, budget, timeline, jurisdictional requirements, and community needs and concerns. In addition, the Survey Party Chief will lead the company's field survey team in the field.
Other Duties:
Acts as party chief for a field survey crew engaged in making plans and/or geodetic surveys for construction, topographic, right-of-way, and control survey projects; participates in pre-survey planning meetings with project managers, resident engineers, and contractor representatives; assigns and monitors work, and provides input for evaluation of members of the field survey crew; is the senior field surveyor in survey and mapping methods, use of equipment, and field safety procedures.
Performs field surveying for roadway, bridges, and flood control projects, including installing surveying construction stakes, tying out existing intersection ties, and locating or establishing vertical and horizontal control, right of way, monuments, corners, boundaries, and property lines.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in an office setting and at field locations throughout the State of Texas. Sits or stands for long periods of time. May occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. Work outside the office is required to complete surveys, site investigations, on-site reviews, and meetings. Outdoor work requires the ability to move about uneven terrain and being around heavy equipment. Uses appropriate safety equipment and follows established work safety policies, practices, and procedures.
Must have a valid Texas driver's license.
