Garg Consulting Services, Inc. (Garg) is a leading multidisciplinary engineering and construction management firm specializing in transportation infrastructure, roadway design, and DOT projects throughout the Northeast. We are currently seeking an experienced Civil Engineer (Transportation/Rail/Bridge) to join our growing team in Woodbridge, NJ.
Position Overview
The Civil Engineer will support the planning, design, and construction of complex transportation infrastructure projects, including roadway, rail, tunnel, and bridge facilities. This role is ideal for a transportation civil engineer with hands-on experience supporting DOT, rail, and large-scale infrastructure programs from design through construction.
This role offers hands-on technical responsibility and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams on high-profile transportation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support the planning, design, and construction delivery of transportation infrastructure projects, including rail, tunnel, bridge, and ancillary facilities
  • Perform civil engineering design and technical support for rail corridors, tunnel structures, bridges, concrete structures, and supporting transportation infrastructure
  • Assist with engineering tasks across multiple work packages, supporting efficient execution of large, multi-disciplinary transportation projects
  • Prepare, review, and coordinate design documents, calculations, and technical reports in compliance with NJDOT, AASHTO, FRA, and applicable regulations
  • Collaborate with structural, rail, tunnel, geotechnical, and construction teams to support integrated design and constructability
  • Provide construction phase engineering support, including RFIs, shop drawing reviews, contractor coordination, and field support
  • Participate in site visits and field inspections to verify compliance with design intent, contract documents, and safety requirements
  • Coordinate with transportation agencies, contractors, inspectors, and stakeholders to resolve design and construction issues
  • Assist with project schedules, budgets, documentation, and quality control activities
  • Promote safety standards, QA/QC procedures, and continuous improvement practices across all infrastructure projects
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program
  • 5-8 years of professional civil engineering experience in transportation, rail, tunnel, bridge, or large-scale infrastructure projects
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
  • Experience supporting rail infrastructure, tunnel construction, bridge projects, or complex transportation programs
  • Working knowledge of NJDOT, AASHTO, FRA, and applicable federal and state design standards
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and related civil engineering design software
  • Experience working with state DOTs, rail agencies, or major transportation authorities preferred
  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
