Job description


The Marketplace Seller Vetting Analyst plays a critical role in protecting and growing Best Buy's Marketplace by evaluating potential seller risk and supporting the integrity of the Marketplace ecosystem. This role combines investigative research, data analysis, and risk assessment to make informed decisions about prospective sellers and identify emerging risks.
The analyst partners closely with teams across Marketplace, Enterprise Fraud, Compliance, Operations, and Technology to solve complex problems, improve processes, and strengthen seller onboarding and monitoring capabilities. Success in this role requires curiosity, sound judgment, strong analytical skills, and the ability to navigate ambiguity while balancing risk mitigation with business objectives.
This role is hybrid, which means you will be required to work on site Monday through Thursday at the Best Buy corporate office in Richfield, Minnesota. You can work virtually from home or another non-Best Buy location on Friday. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process.
What You'll Do
• Conduct risk assessments on prospective Marketplace sellers using internal and external data sources.
• Analyze data, identify trends, and investigate potential risks, anomalies, and red flags.
• Partner cross-functionally to support seller onboarding, risk mitigation strategies, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Perform investigative research to understand seller relationships, business activity, ownership structures, and potential compliance concerns.
• Monitor seller activity and emerging risks to help protect the Marketplace ecosystem.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting, tools, and controls that enhance program effectiveness.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on Marketplace seller vetting and support stakeholder inquiries and business initiatives.
Basic Requirements: (You must meet or exceed these requirements to be considered):
  • 1 year or more of data analytics, fraud or investigations experience.
  • Intermediate knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience.
  • Proficient in Structured Query Language (SQL) or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Ability to understand trends and spot anomalies within data.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
