Facilities Maintenance Technician
Staffing Network
Location: JFK Airport Area, Inwood, NY 11096
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (flexibility required)
Pay Rate: $29.00 - $32.50HR
Position Overview
Staffing Network is seeking a skilled Facilities Maintenance Technician to support a busy 24/7 facility operation near JFK Airport. This role is responsible for maintaining building systems, performing repairs, supporting facility operations, and ensuring equipment and grounds remain in excellent condition. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, dependable, and able to prioritize multiple maintenance needs. Based on the provided job requirements. 
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform general building maintenance and repairs.
  • Repair and maintain drywall, paint, ceilings, flooring, doors, and hardware.
  • Troubleshoot and repair plumbing systems including sinks, toilets, urinals, drains, and valves.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on facility equipment and systems.
  • Perform HVAC maintenance and repairs, including air conditioning units, exhaust fans, filters, boilers, and controls.
  • Conduct electrical repairs including lighting, switches, receptacles, motors, and circuits.
  • Complete daily facility inspections and report maintenance issues.
  • Coordinate and oversee contractors to ensure safe, quality work.
  • Manage work orders, maintenance inventories, and purchase requests.
  • Assist with office and furniture moves and facility reconfigurations.
  • Support exterior maintenance including roofing, fencing, signage, irrigation systems, and siding. 
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent facilities, building maintenance, apartment maintenance, or related experience.
  • Working knowledge of electrical and plumbing systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain Airport Authority and Customs badges as required.
  • Welding knowledge and ability to pass welding testing. 
  • Experience working in commercial kitchens or food production environments. (preferred)
  • HVAC experience. (preferred)
  • Sheet metal experience. (preferred)
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and move up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical work throughout the day.
  • Ability to work outdoors approximately 50% of the time.
  • Comfortable working at heights up to 50 feet.
