Welder / Fabricator

CK Metalworks, LLC Location: Colorado Springs, CO Job Type: Full-Time (Specific hours to be determined)

Job Overview

CK Metalworks, LLC is a specialized welding and fabrication company in Colorado Springs known for its high-quality ornamental and structural metalwork. We are seeking a skilled Welder/Fabricator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in custom metal fabrication, structural steel welding, and creating high-end ornamental railings, staircases, and custom metal products. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, precision welding skills, and the ability to interpret complex blueprints and shop drawings.

Key Responsibilities

Welding and Fabrication

  • Precision Welding: Execute high-quality welds (MIG, TIG, etc.) on various materials, primarily steel and stainless steel, ensuring structural integrity and superior aesthetic finish for ornamental pieces.
  • Custom Fabrication: Fabricate a wide range of custom metal products, including:
    • Wrought Iron, Modern Steel, and Cable Railings (Interior and Exterior)
    • Structural Steel components and Metal Building Erection
    • Spiral Staircases and custom metal furniture (tables, chairs, fire pits).
  • Cutting and Shaping: Proficiently use shop tools and equipment (saws, shears, brakes, grinders, plasma cutters) to accurately cut, form, and shape materials according to specifications.
  • Assembly: Fit and assemble components to tight tolerances based on engineering drawings and blueprints prior to welding.

Installation and Site Work

  • Perform on-site installation of fabricated metal products at residential and commercial properties in the Colorado Springs area.
  • Ensure all installed work meets local safety codes and client aesthetic expectations.
  • Safely set up and utilize hoisting and rigging equipment for installation projects.

Quality and Safety

  • Inspect all finished work to ensure zero defects, proper alignment, and dimensional accuracy before and after welding.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, strictly adhering to all company and industry safety standards (OSHA).
  • Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment and tools.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Must be able to pass a 3G and 4G with SMAW 
  • Stainless steel welding experience is a huge plus
  • Experience: Proven experience as a Welder/Fabricator, with a strong portfolio or demonstrable history of ornamental and structural metalwork.
  • Certifications: Welding certifications (e.g., AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code) are highly preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Expert ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and shop drawings.
  • Tool Proficiency: Expertise in operating all common welding equipment, fabrication machinery, and precision measuring tools.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy objects, stand for extended periods, and work safely at heights and on ladders during installation.
  • Personal Attributes: Self-motivated, highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently or as part of a small team to meet project deadlines.
  • Driver's License: Valid driver's license with a clean record is often required for transport and site work.
