Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician II is responsible for performing maintenance and repair tasks on all processing, conveying, packaging, and mobile equipment utilized in the facility. This includes ensuring all equipment operates efficiently, following safety protocols, and minimizing downtime. The role also includes documenting maintenance activities, troubleshooting electrical and control issues, and assisting in maintaining the plant's maintenance budget.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks on all plant equipment, including pelleting, packaging, and mobile equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical, control, and mechanical systems with limited supervision.
  • Conduct welding tasks as required to maintain operational equipment.
  • Assist with spare parts management, including ordering and organizing parts for equipment maintenance.
  • Document all maintenance tasks accurately, including preventive maintenance and repairs.
  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA standards, ensuring a safe and clean work environment.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure continuous operation of equipment and to minimize downtime.
  • Participate in the development of the annual maintenance budget and adhere to budget guidelines.
  • Other Duties:
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
  • May provide guidance to other maintenance personnel as needed.

Qualification Requirements
Reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and Shift Foreman.
Physical Demands and Environment:
Must be able to lift and carry 50-pound loads.
Must be able to climb stairs and ladders, and work in various conditions for extended periods.
Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, as required by the plant operations.
Work in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment, with the ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Experience with plant maintenance, including troubleshooting and repair of manufacturing equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems in an industrial setting.
  • Proficient in welding and fabrication techniques.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact with coworkers, contractors, and suppliers professionally.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and drawings.
  • Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in maintaining computer-controlled manufacturing or processing equipment.
  • Experience working with wood pellet production or similar heavy industrial equipment is a plus.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding all proprietary and sensitive information.
  • Represent the company in a professional and courteous manner at all times.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with co-workers.
  • Ability to have regular and predictable attendance.
  • Ability to work in extreme heat and cold environments.
