Job description

Position Overview

Ensign Physical Therapy is seeking a dedicated and skilled Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our dynamic team in Richmond, Virginia. This full-time, onsite role is vital for delivering high-quality therapeutic care in a hospital setting, where you will work alongside licensed physical therapists to implement treatment plans and help patients achieve optimal health outcomes. Our ideal candidate will be committed to providing exceptional care and fostering a supportive environment that prioritizes patient well-being.

About the Organization

At Ensign Physical Therapy, our mission is to enhance the quality of life for our patients through innovative rehabilitation techniques and personalized service. Recognized for our commitment to excellence, we embrace a team-oriented approach that values collaboration among health professionals. Our skilled staff utilizes advanced clinical technology, allowing us to focus on delivering care rather than administrative tasks. We take pride in our supportive culture that encourages professional growth and celebrates accomplishments.

Work Environment

This position is located in a hospital environment in Richmond, Virginia, where you will interact with a diverse group of patients. The setting allows for a rich array of cases, from post-surgical recovery to rehabilitation for chronic conditions. Our hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art rehabilitation technology, providing you opportunities to apply your skills effectively. The work schedule typically spans Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional flexibility to meet the needs of our patients.

Key Responsibilities

As a Physical Therapist Assistant with Ensign Physical Therapy, you will:

  • Deliver direct physical therapy services under the direction of a licensed physical therapist, adhering strictly to the prescribed plan of care.
  • Administer therapeutic exercises, assist with muscle reeducation, and guide patients through gait and functional training exercises to alleviate pain and restore functionality.
  • Utilize various physical agents such as heat, cold, electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and manual techniques, ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout treatments.
  • Monitor patients’ responses to therapy, documenting any changes in condition and reporting findings to the supervising physical therapist promptly.
  • Provide education to patients on the correct use of mobility and therapeutic devices, including wheelchairs, crutches, canes, and prosthetic devices, enhancing their independence.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, including clinical notes and care records, as required by facility policies.
  • Engage in continuous professional development through participation in multidisciplinary team meetings and in-service education programs.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care standards and overall clinic operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, within your scope of practice.
Patient Population / Client Focus

The PTA will work closely with a diverse patient population, which may include individuals recovering from surgery, patients with neurological conditions, older adults with mobility challenges, and those rehabilitating from sports injuries. Your role will be crucial in delivering tailored care aimed at improving mobility, reducing pain, and enabling patients to achieve personal rehabilitation goals.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited program for physical therapist assistants.
  • Current certification or license as mandated by Virginia state regulations.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle that meets state insurance requirements.
Preferred Experience

While a minimum of two years of experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant is required, candidates with advanced skills in specific therapeutic modalities or prior experience in a hospital setting will be strongly preferred. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems is also advantageous, as it enhances the efficiency of documenting patient care.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this position ranges from USD 60,000 to 80,000 annually, commensurate with experience. In addition to a competitive salary, Ensign Physical Therapy offers an attractive benefits package that includes:

  • Comprehensive healthcare benefits, encompassing medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • A robust retirement savings plan with employer matching contributions.
  • Generous paid time off and holiday benefits.
  • Access to continuing education programs and professional development resources to enhance your career.
  • Liability insurance coverage to ensure your professional peace of mind.
  • Employee wellness initiatives, including gym membership discounts to promote a healthy lifestyle.
Career Growth Opportunities

Ensign Physical Therapy is deeply committed to the professional development of its staff. As we continue to expand our clinic, we value promoting from within and often provide opportunities for career advancement. Whether you aspire to specialize in a specific area of physical therapy or take on leadership roles, we encourage and support your journey in your professional career.

Why Join Our Team

Joining our team means becoming part of a collaborative and supportive environment where your contributions directly impact the lives of patients. You will be aligned with a mission-focused organization that prioritizes quality care and innovation. With access to advanced clinical tools and continuing education opportunities, you'll have the resources you need to excel in your practice while working alongside like-minded professionals who share your commitment to patient care.
