Position Summary

S&M Auto & Diesel is seeking a reliable and experienced Auto/Diesel Mechanic to join our team in Arvada, Colorado.

The ideal candidate will diagnose, repair, inspect, and maintain a variety of vehicles while providing high-quality workmanship and excellent customer service. This position requires strong mechanical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced shop environment.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical vehicle issues
  • Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and fluid checks
  • Repair or replace brakes, suspension systems, steering systems, batteries, belts, hoses, and other vehicle components
  • Conduct vehicle inspections and identify recommended repairs
  • Use diagnostic equipment and tools safely and effectively
  • Maintain accurate repair documentation and service records
  • Communicate repair recommendations and vehicle concerns clearly to management
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe
  • Follow company safety procedures and OSHA guidelines
  • Test drive vehicles as necessary to diagnose problems or verify repairs
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Previous automotive repair experience required
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and perform physical work in a garage/shop environment
  • Ability to work overhead and in confined spaces, including under dashboards and in vehicle beds
  • Basic computer and diagnostic software skills preferred
  • ASE certifications are a plus but are not required
Requirements
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Must maintain legally required automobile insurance coverage
  • Must successfully pass a background check as a condition of employment
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
Work Environment

This is a hands-on automotive shop position that includes frequent standing, bending, kneeling, and lifting. Team members may be exposed to vehicle fluids, tools, loud noises, shop equipment, and varying temperatures in garage, shop, and outdoor environments.
