Job description

Albany Engineered Composites (AEC) designs, develops, and manufactures advanced composite components in order to help our customers push the frontiers of innovation. Our core strength is our ability to produce highly tailored, complex composite components. With our unique blend of products - including 3D woven structures, traditional and non-traditional 2D composite structures, and discrete through thickness reinforcement technologies, to name a few - AEC is able to produce composite components and products which meet performance and cost specifications often beyond the reach of metallic or conventional laminated composites.

Job Purpose

To support and assist all shipping duties of the Shipping and Receiving department

Job Responsibilities

In the performance of their respective tasks and duties all employees are expected to conform to the following values: Safety, Fact Based, Accountable, Respectful, Persistence and Ethical. Put Safety first at all times, never compromise on safety for the obtainment of other objectives. Responsible for health and safety of themselves and coworkers.
  • Daily material handling activities at the AEC
    • Deliver and pick up materials, parts, and Kanban cards on designated water spider routes at designated times
    • Work with VSLs, Team leads and Quality Techs with material flow between the stockroom, warehouse and the shop floor
    • Work with Stockroom Attendant to prepare materials to be delivered to Production
    • Perform weekly inventory counts
    • Ensure batch/lot (FIFO & FEFO) on material being transacted
    • Assist with hardware kits to support production needs
    • Perform all relevant SAP transactions and reporting
    • Loading and unloading freight vehicles with forklift and necessary material handling equipment
    • Package material for transport/storage as required
    • Work flexible hours to achieve daily departmental objectives
    • Understand and work on customer shipment schedules
    • Prepare outbound shipments and make necessary logistics arrangements
    • Prepare all outbound shipment documentation
  • Observe Safety policies, programs and initiatives including work place organization
  • Ensure that all company and governmental policies and procedures are adhered to.
  • Troubleshoot and assist in solving problems.
  • Drive continuous improvements in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.
  • Housekeeping and organization (5S) of the work areas (Receiving, Stockroom and Warehouse)
  • Interact and coordinate activities with other departments as necessary

  • Valid driver's license
  • SAP system experience preferred
  • Shipping and Receiving experience preferred
  • Must be able to demonstrate organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Detail oriented in terms of documentation

Working Conditions

Indoor production environment, adequate lighting and comfortable temperatures. Occasional exposure to moderate noise and machinery with mechanical moving parts. Ability to work 24/7 schedule and be available as business situations required, overtime dependent on business need.

Physical requirements

Frequent repetitive hand movements, use of hand tools - band cutters, box cutters, scissors, etc...

Must be able to detect and recognize visual differences between materials or parts, etc...

Frequently moves materials and parts >25 lbs between pallets and carts
