Job description

Loader/Backhoe Operator
Ark Contracting Services LLC headquartered in Kennedale, Texas was established in 2004 and is a specialty construction contractor focused in heavy civil wet ground and infrastructure projects with the North Texas area. The current scope of practice includes but is not limited to gabion structures, concrete structures, shoring systems, earth retention structures, pipelines, earth anchors systems, erosion protection, and dredging disciplines. With a clear focus on quality, safety, and integrity, Ark Contracting Services is committed to empowering our valued employees with the appropriate tools and resources supporting professional growth.
We are looking for an eager, self-starter with great attention-to-detail, committed to quality and integrity ready to continue his/her career within heavy civil wet ground and infrastructure construction. The ideal candidate would have the ability to leverage his/her professional experience, education, strong interpersonal skills to be an effective team player.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Safely operate a backhoe to complete underground utility projects in a timely manner
  • Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with field and office personnel
  • Must be committed to contributing to a culture of safety, looking out for yourself and others
  • Unload and carry materials at construction sites
  • Perform Operator level maintenance on the machine.
  • Understand safe working loads and signals.
  • Operate a Backhoe safely as part of a crew
  • Inspects equipment daily for safety and legal compliance including and not limited to tires, tracks, lights, grease, brakes, fuel, oil, and water
  • Additional duties may be assigned as necessary

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred but not mandatory
  • Ability to effectively communicate both written and verbal
  • Ability to use software base management systems to login in time and attendance as well as pertinent information regarding tools and jobsite equipment
  • Committed to safety and attends regular on the job training with Foreman, Superintendent, Project Manager, and Safety Officer
  • Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with field and office personnel
  • Must be committed to contributing to a culture of safety, looking out for yourself and others
  • 1-2 years' experience operating backhoes preferred

Physical Requirements:
  • Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
  • Work long shifts
  • Work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the elements.
  • Must have good hand-eye coordination, quick reaction times.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 60 lbs.
  • Able to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, and safety-toed boots.
  • Able to walk moderate distances to reach work area up to 1/2 mile
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
  • Able to pass a pre-employment background check to work on government project.
