What is an independent contractor aviation?

An Independent Contractor Aviation job involves providing specialized aviation services on a contract basis rather than as a full-time employee. These professionals may work as pilots, flight instructors, maintenance technicians, or consultants for multiple clients. They are responsible for managing their schedules, contracts, and expenses while ensuring compliance with aviation regulations. Independent aviation contractors often enjoy flexibility but must also handle their own taxes, insurance, and business operations.

What is the typical work structure for an independent contractor in aviation?

As an Independent Contractor in Aviation, your work structure can vary widely depending on client needs and the specific type of aviation service you provide, such as piloting, maintenance, or consulting. You may take on short-term projects, temporary assignments, or contract work with multiple clients, requiring a high degree of flexibility and self-management. While direct supervision is minimal, you will often collaborate with fixed-base operators, corporate flight departments, or other aviation professionals to ensure safe and efficient operations. Independent contractors must also manage their own business administration, such as scheduling, invoicing, and compliance with industry regulations. This arrangement offers both flexibility and the challenge of balancing multiple responsibilities.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an independent contractor in aviation?

To thrive as an Independent Contractor in Aviation, you need extensive aviation knowledge, hands-on operational experience, and typically relevant licenses such as a commercial pilot certificate or mechanic certifications. Familiarity with aviation software, flight planning tools, and adherence to FAA regulations is essential. Strong time management, problem-solving abilities, and clear communication set successful contractors apart. These skills ensure safety, regulatory compliance, and effective service delivery in a highly regulated and dynamic industry.

ABOUT OUR AGENCY:I opened my agency in 2006 and we currently have a close-knit team of three. Before stepping into agency ownership, I attended aviation school in Daytona Beach and built my career in the aviation industry with an international airline. One of the most exciting parts of that role was traveling to help launch new airline locations - an experience that taught me how to lead, adapt quickly, and stay focused on people and service no matter the environment.
Giving back and staying connected to the community is important to us. We're actively involved in different Hispanic and African community events, helping educate people on how insurance works and why having the right protection matters.
For our team, we offer work-life balance, licensing reimbursement, and bonus opportunities - including an additional 3% on monthly bonuses. Our office culture is respectful, customer-focused, and built on trust. I'm not a micromanager, and I believe in rewarding people when they show up, prove themselves, and take pride in their work.
We're looking for someone dedicated and punctual who genuinely enjoys helping others and treating customers with care. If you value a supportive environment where your work is noticed and your growth is encouraged, we'd love to connect.
ROLE DESCRIPTION:As Account Associate - State Farm Agent Team Member for Lateef Kirsten - State Farm Agent, you are vital to our daily business operations and customers' success. You grow our agency through meaningful customer relations and acting as a liaison between customer needs and agency departments. You improve the lives of our customers by proactively marketing relevant products and services.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage customer accounts and update information in the database.
  • Assist customers with policy changes and inquiries.
  • Process insurance claims and follow up with customers on claim status.
  • Coordinate with underwriters to ensure timely policy issuance.

QUALIFICATIONS:
