Job description

Job Title: SPI / AOI Process Engineer Department: Manufacturing Engineering Job Summary

The SPI / AOI Process Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, maintaining, and continuously improving Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) and Solder Paste Inspection (SPI) programs for SMT manufacturing. The engineer will support NPI and mass production activities using Koh Young and TRI systems, ensuring defect detection effectiveness while minimizing false calls and maximizing production yield.

Required Qualifications
  • 2+ years of SMT manufacturing experience.
  • 2+ years of SPI programming experience.
  • 2+ years of AOI programming experience.
  • Experience with offline programming stations.
  • Experience supporting high-mix EMS manufacturing environment.
  • Hands‑on experience with TRI and Koh Young systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Electronics, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
  • Basic Knowledge of IPC standards (IPC-A-610).
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast‑paced environment
  • Ability to read and understand technical documentation
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office)
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and optimize SPI and AOI programs for NPI and production builds.
  • Analyze SPI measurement data and SPC trends.
  • Establish SPI process control limits and alarm thresholds.
  • Troubleshoot solder printing issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Optimize AOI libraries and component databases.
  • Reduce false calls while maintaining defect detection effectiveness.
  • Support first article inspection and NPI qualification.
  • Analyze AOI escape defects and improve detection capability.
  • Train technicians and operators on AOI/SPI systems.
