High School Teacher - Science

Are you an educator seeking a position that provides a supportive environment with small class sizes of no more than 10 students, which allows you to provide an educational experience that changes students’ lives? We are currently collecting applications for the 2023-2024 school year to teach High School Science.

Fortune Academy is a destination for the education of individuals with learning differences. We are committed to enhancing innovative opportunities for our 1st-12th grade students, and ongoing teacher training. We are a leader in research-based education. According to research done by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, nearly 1 in 5 students are affected by dyslexia, 1 in 30 have been diagnosed with ADD/ADHD, and over 40% of students with language-based learning differences are improperly placed in special needs programs that aren't addressing their needs. We are home to these students. They deserve an education that makes sense to them; we are here to provide it.

DETAILS:

  • Fortune Academy is an established 1st-12th grade private school for students with language-based learning differences such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADHD, and dyscalculia.
  • We are the only Orton-Gillingham accredited school in Indiana serving students with language-based learning differences.
  • Compensation is based on experience

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree required from a four-year college, university, or similar
  • Willingness to complete Orton-Gillingham training at Fortune Academy (at no expense to you)
  • Candidate needs to be have the capability to lift about 20lbs and stand for an extended period of time

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree
  • Have a passion for working with students with learning differences
  • Be highly intuitive, creative, flexible, even-tempered
  • Collaborate effectively with a small team of skilled and diverse individuals
  • Be detail-oriented and possess strong organizational skills
  • Ability to use data to inform instruction and decision-making related to student achievement
  • Ability to turn best practices into high quality, goal-driven results
  • Highly effective writing, oral and interpersonal skills to communicate with a varied audience
  • Data management tools, organizational tools, computer skills (Google Classroom, Word, Powerpoint)

Physical Requirements

  • Work setting is a traditional school building or similar facility. Working conditions during the day may involve physical activities such as climbing stairs, and standing for periods of time.

Pay: starting at $40,000.00 per year
