Job description

Job Summary:

  • Assume responsibility for certain technical aspects of patient care as directed by the RN/LPN to include checking vital signs and blood glucose levels, assisting with grooming activities including bathing, hair washing and brushing.
  • Change and clean patients with incontinence garments and bedpans.
  • Assist patients walking, getting out of bed, changing clothing, and eating.
  • Transport patients to other areas of the hospital for testing or procedure(s). 
  • Demonstrate and encourage team behavior and exceptional patient/guest experiences.     
  • Uphold and promote patient safety and quality.      

Education:                
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Successful graduation and certification from accredited patient care assistant program or certified nursing assistant program required. Must be BLS certified.                   

Experience:                
Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred. Knowledge of basic patient care methods, procedures and techniques required.                 

Additional Skills/Abilities:                
Excellent interpersonal skills required. Proficient oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills required.
