Job Description Summary

The Fixed Income Solutions team supports financial advisors by providing specialized fixed income expertise from the home office. As a Strategist on the Fixed Income Solutions team, you will support advisors across a wide range of fixed income needs, helping them understand, develop, and implement customized fixed income strategies utilizing portfolios of individual bonds.
You will serve as a trusted fixed income resource for advisors by responding to inbound calls and emails, addressing questions related to fixed income markets, products, portfolio construction, and investment strategy. Educating advisors on fixed income fundamentals is a big part of the role, helping them better understand how individual bonds function and the role they can play within client portfolios. You will help advisors develop customized fixed income portfolios as well as conduct reviews of currently held fixed income portfolios, providing analysis, recommendations, and insights. You will also contribute to the team's thought leadership efforts by assisting in the development of fixed income market commentary, strategy publications, presentations, and other advisor-facing content. You will deliver timely market intelligence, identify investment opportunities, and help advisors navigate changing market conditions. Another aspect of this role is to support advisors in understanding fixed income technology platforms that are available at Raymond James by educating advisors on available tools and best practices, helping them effectively incorporate these resources into their practices.
Success in this role requires strong fixed income knowledge, excellent communication skills, a client service mindset, and the ability to translate complex market and portfolio concepts into practical guidance for financial advisors. Knowledge of a range of fixed income products is imperative, including: corporate bonds, municipal bonds, Treasuries, agencies, mortgage-backed securities, and brokered CDs. Also important is an understanding of the global and domestic economic picture and the ability to translate larger macroeconomic themes into timely ideas and portfolio insights. Ultimately, you will serve as a fixed income expert in the home office ready to assist our advisors in any way that is needed.

Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Collaborate with financial advisors to develop fixed income strategies for their clients and prospects

Construct custom built portfolios of individual bonds across a range of product types (municipal bonds, corporate bonds, Treasuries, etc.)

Serve as a fixed income market expert and resource, providing timely market commentary and analysis to financial advisors.

Build and maintain relationships with financial advisors to assist in maintaining and growing their client-base

Educate financial advisors on the benefits of fixed income

Participate in developing strategy resources, both in written form and in the form of virtual and in-person presentations

Build a relationship with all trading operations in supporting the creation and implementation of portfolios

Knowledge of

Wealth management/ brokerage industry.

Advanced knowledge of the rate markets, spread products (especially Municipal and Corporate Bonds) and fixed income portfolio management

Advanced concepts and regulations related to fixed income capital markets

Skills in

Excellent problem-solving skills to identify the needs of clients through effective questioning and listening.

Ability to manage multiple client projects simultaneously, work closely with traders to execute trades in a timely and organized manner

The use of Bloomberg and fixed income portfolio management tools

Articulating complex technical issues to a non-technical audience.

Preparing and delivering clear, effective, and professional presentations.

Excellent written communication skills with an ability to convey complex topics and investment ideas in a clear and understandable manner to a wide range of audiences.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with financial advisors and their clients.

Ability to

Identify and position the fixed income products to include in client portfolios

Provide a high level of customer service and commitment to a supportive and collaborative environment.

Function on a retail trading desk, with distractions and interruptions, while still performing necessary duties.

Work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment

Education/Previous Experience

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in a related discipline and at least two (2) of financial services industry experience, preferably in a fixed income related role.

OR ~

Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources.

Licenses/Certifications

FINRA Series 7, 52, and 66 or the ability to obtain within one year of hire.

Other applicable licenses or certifications are beneficial. The ability to obtain a necessary license if needed as required by management.
