Job description

Eggs Unlimited is one of the world’s largest suppliers of eggs, servicing the biggest retail and food manufacturing companies around the globe. Every day, we find homes for millions of eggs by tapping into our vast supply chain and customer networks. Bringing sellers and buyers together in fair market negotiations, we open up a world of possibilities for expanding their knowledge, reach, and access. With dedicated service teams and a mission to uphold transparency and trustworthiness, we create quick and creative solutions to help manage the ever-evolving demands of the global egg industry.Job Summary:

Eggs Unlimited is seeking an experienced, motivated, and detail-driven Freight Coordinator to join our logistics team in Irvine, California.

This is a hands-on freight execution role responsible for sourcing capacity, negotiating competitive rates, covering loads, tracking shipments, and managing transportation issues from load assignment through confirmed delivery. Our coordinators primarily manage refrigerated full truckload freight, with additional support for LTL, intermodal, and other transportation modes as needed.

We are looking for someone who is willing to get into the details, make calls, work multiple carrier options, ask the right questions, and negotiate confidently and persistently. The right candidate will not simply accept the first available truck or rate. They will understand the market, counter carrier offers, develop backup options, and continue working until they secure the best available combination of cost, service, timing, and reliability.

Our logistics operation is high-volume, fast-moving, and constantly changing. Success requires urgency, sound judgment, strong follow-through, and the ability to manage multiple active shipments and competing priorities without sacrificing accuracy.

This position is 100% based in our Irvine, California office and may require occasional overtime or weekend support based on business needs.

Responsibilities:
  • Source and secure qualified carrier and broker capacity through established relationships, load boards, transportation platforms, and direct outreach.
  • Own assigned shipments from carrier sourcing and load coverage through confirmed delivery.
  • Actively solicit multiple carrier options and negotiate rates rather than accepting the first available offer.
  • Negotiate confidently and persistently using current market conditions, carrier bids, internal rate history, service requirements, timing, and available capacity.
  • Balance freight cost, service, timing, and carrier reliability when making coverage recommendations and transportation decisions.
  • Work within established rate targets and approval requirements while continuing to pursue the strongest available option.
  • Coordinate refrigerated full truckload shipments, along with LTL, intermodal, and other transportation modes as needed.
  • Confirm equipment, temperature, pickup, delivery, appointment, and customer-specific requirements before dispatch.
  • Track active shipments and maintain timely, accurate updates throughout the shipment lifecycle.
  • Proactively identify delays, missed appointments, carrier no-shows, tracking gaps, documentation issues, and other potential service risks.
  • Develop backup carrier options and recovery plans when shipments do not go according to plan.
  • Take action within established authority and escalate major risks with clear details, available options, and a recommended solution.
  • Communicate directly with carriers, brokers, suppliers, receivers, customers when appropriate, and internal teams to maintain shipment visibility and alignment.
  • Handle a high volume of calls, emails, Teams messages, shipment updates, and follow-ups throughout the day.
  • Maintain accurate records in the company’s transportation management system and operational tracking tools.
  • Review and maintain rate confirmations, bills of lading, proof of delivery, carrier records, shipment notes, and other supporting documentation.
  • Build productive carrier and broker relationships while holding transportation partners accountable for service, communication, safety, and compliance expectations.
  • Support urgent, same-day, next-day, and other high-priority shipments with the appropriate level of communication, ownership, and follow-through.
  • Identify opportunities to improve freight execution, strengthen carrier performance, reduce costs, and eliminate avoidable service failures.
  • Assist with reporting, process improvements, system updates, customer onboarding, and other logistics projects as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in freight brokerage, transportation operations, dispatch, logistics coordination, carrier operations, load planning, or a related field.
  • Experience working in a high-volume freight operation where priorities and capacity conditions change throughout the day.
  • Demonstrated experience sourcing capacity, negotiating freight rates, countering carrier offers, and managing carrier or broker relationships.
  • Refrigerated full truckload or temperature-controlled transportation experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing urgent shipments, service exceptions, missed appointments, carrier no-shows, and freight recovery efforts.
  • Strong phone, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Confidence making outbound calls, asking detailed questions, challenging rates, and working through carrier objections.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple shipments, deadlines, follow-ups, and changing priorities simultaneously.
  • High attention to detail, particularly with shipment requirements, documentation, appointment information, and system updates.
  • Experience with transportation management systems such as Turvo or comparable TMS platforms preferred.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Outlook, Microsoft Teams, and other business applications.
  • Familiarity with food-grade transportation requirements, shipping documentation, safety expectations, and transportation best practices preferred.
  • Ability to remain calm, decisive, and solutions-focused when shipments do not go according to plan.
  • Strong sense of ownership and willingness to stay engaged until the load or issue is fully resolved.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work 100% on-site in Irvine, California and provide occasional overtime or weekend support as business needs require.
What Success Looks Like:
  • Consistently secures reliable carrier capacity at competitive rates.
  • Negotiates confidently, counters carrier offers, and protects company freight costs.
  • Gets into the details and fully understands the requirements and risks of assigned loads.
  • Maintains ownership from load coverage through confirmed delivery.
  • Communicates risks early and provides clear updates, options, and recommended solutions.
  • Anticipates problems and develops backup plans before service is affected.
  • Maintains accurate documentation and dependable shipment visibility.
  • Balances urgency with accuracy and cost control.
  • Builds strong carrier, broker, and internal relationships without sacrificing accountability.
  • Follows through consistently and stays engaged until every issue is resolved.
  • Identifies ways to improve freight execution, reduce avoidable costs, and strengthen service.

Compensation and Benefits:
  • Join at the “second floor” of a hyper-growth company rapidly becoming a skyscraper – help build what comes next.
  • Access meaningful advancement opportunities as the company continues to expand.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Company-paid life and disability insurance.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • Generous PTO that increases annually.
  • Free daily lunch, snacks, and refreshments.
  • Base Salary: $31-$36+ / hour
