Job description

SA Recycling, an industry leader in the metals recyclables space, is looking for an experienced and dependable Welder/Fabricator to join our team. As a Welder/Fabricator you will be an integral part of our maintenance crew tasked with the repair and maintenance of a metal recycling shredder and other metal recycling equipment. Your ability to interpret blueprints, perform precision work, and ensure the structural integrity of the shredder will be critical to our success. This position will work outside in varying weather conditions, and SA Recycling strictly adheres to all Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF WELDER/FABRICATOR

  • Perform a full range of complex skilled welding and fabrication duties for a meal recycling shredder and other industrial equipment.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow all blueprints, job drawings, schematics, and welding symbols to decide layout requirements and follow proper procedures.
  • Perform layout and fit-up of structural components including platforms, stairs, supports, columns, beams, stiffeners, etc.
  • Ability to use a variety of welding and fabricating equipment safely and effectively.
  • Communicate and work well with others in a safe and professional manner.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly working area/shop.
  • Assist other team members as needed.
  • Perform all tasks fully within SA Recycling’s Safety and Environmental practices and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS OF A WELDER/FABRICATOR

  • High school diploma or GED; graduation from a trade school preferred.
  • 3+ years’ experience in welding processes such as MIG, stick, and torch welding on a variety of materials.
  • Recycling industry experience preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of welding fabrication tools and techniques.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local job site health and safety rules, regulations and best practices; understanding of potential job hazards.
  • Ability to safely work at varying heights, in tight quarters, and varying positions.
  • Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) a plus.
