Description
Join our team! The University Book Store is now hiring at our Hilldale Shopping Center location to start work in early to mid-August. We are seeking an enthusiastic, customer-focused team member for a part-time role, requiring 15 to 20 hours per week.
JOB FUNCTION:
Provides exceptional customer service and promotes sales and in-store services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Performs UBS customer service expectations as required.
  2. Performs basic cash handling and sales transactions to accurately record purchases, and completes transactions according to company procedures.
  3. Assists customers and provides information to customers on product selection, assisting with purchases.
  4. Maintains the sales floor area, which includes stocking merchandise, creating displays, and cleaning and straightening merchandise and fixtures to present a positive store image.
  5. Maintains inventory records as directed including counting items, data entry, and verifying and recording information.
  6. Maintains sales floor security.
  7. Performs opening and closing procedures including running of reports, setting or deactivating electronic alarm, and maintaining security of money, of store safe, and of the store products.
  8. Unloads and moves merchandise to and from the sales floor.
  9. Assists supervisor and participates in the organization, planning, and implementing of sales promotions, marketing plans, and events.
  10. Assists as needed in directing, training, and scheduling staff to increase performance and competence. Includes various store responsibilities in store supervisor's absence.
  11. Performs all additional duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Helps ensure department teamwork, enthusiasm, and commitment to optimum levels of customer service, sales, organization, and professionalism.
  2. Scheduling will be done with direct supervisor; day, night and weekend shifts will be required.

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School degree.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude and willingness to perform a variety of tasks.
  • Retail sales experience.

Salary Description
$12.00 per Hour
