How You Can Be the Impact

The Sr. Manager, EHSS plays a critical role on the PC&PBT Site Management Team by demonstrating SABIC Values and SABIC Leadership Way to set the tone for EHSS matters to all site employees and internal and external stakeholders. This role requires strong leadership including the emotional intelligence and communication skills needed to create a positive EHSS culture of continuous improvement that ensures regulatory compliance for all applicable site/regional/global EHSS programs including: air, water, waste, safety, security emergency preparedness, Process Safety Management, and EHSS training.

The Sr. Manager, EHSS provides strategic direction and leads site capability to meet or exceed EHSS goals using data-driven, statistical methods that improve EHSS maturity, sustain the PC&PBT Responsible Care ISO14001 certification and inspire the site to attain new levels of EHSS excellence.

  • Lead inclusive EHSS culture and climate that strives for continuous improvement, active engagement and focus on SABIC regional and global EHSS initiatives and priorities.
  • Provide strategic and actionable EHSS direction including constructive enforcement of EHSS objectives, problem solving collaboration and consideration of new ideas to ensure plant projects, operations, and initiatives meet or exceed SABIC standards.
  • Collect, prepare, submit and maintain EHSS applications, data, reports, records and documents as required by corporate policy and government/regulatory agency regulations.  Comply with all applicable declarations, permits, regulatory reporting, etc.
  • Monitor and take action to ensure compliance with existing and anticipated government regulations, permits or other EHSS obligations.
  • Provide effective financial oversight of EHSS budget to ensure compliance with controllership and purchasing policies and standards. Meet annual budgetary commitments.  Advocate and plan future budgetary needs to maintain compliance or to improve EHSS maturity and performance expectations.
  • Collaborate with key internal stakeholders such as Legal, HR, Communications, Procurement, and Finance on EHSS matters. Invite and seek cross-functional perspectives on topics including, but not limited to, policy development and enforcement, contract management, disclosures and publications, etc.
  • Inspire site employees, local community stakeholders, and SABIC customers through transparent and inclusive EHSS communications and leadership. Recommend strategies and implement actions to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage personal development and the development of ~6 direct / 16 total reports by setting expectations and coaching team to understand and meet goals and objectives.

What Matters to SABIC

  • B.S. or equivalent related science/engineering degree
  • Minimum eight years manufacturing Environmental, Health, Safety and Security (EHSS) experience in chemicals, plastics or petrochemicals with at least two years in leadership.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 14001 standards and advanced manufacturing principles such as LEAN/Six Sigma
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret business strategies and develop plans to meet program and/or operating plan metrics
  • Proven ability to assess talent and manage change to build high-performing teams
  • Extremely strong team leadership and cross-functional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work with a high degree of reliability and self-reliance
