Job Description
Job Title: PCU Registered Nurse

Description:

Candidates may not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any associated facility.
Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care.
Refusal to remove nails will lead to termination of contract.
RN's must pass a written exam during orientation.
This is an open-book exam covering skills learned.
RNs are given all necessary resources to pass.
A score of 90% is required to pass.
Unit has a total of 33 beds.
Nurse to patient ratios are 1:4-5.
Common diagnoses include young adults through geriatrics, sepsis, STEMI, CHF, chest pain, COVID, stroke, renal failure, COPD, and DKA.
Nurses will manage patients with complex medical issues, including multisystem failure.
RNs are required to titrate drips.
Common titratable or set rate drips include Heparin, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, IV antibiotics, and Insulin.
A charge nurse is present on each shift.
The charge nurse does take a patient assignment.
Certified nursing assistants are available with a 1:10 ratio.
The availability of CNAs fluctuates based on unit census.
Respiratory equipment used includes BiPAP, Airvo.
RNs are required to read and interpret their own telemetry.
Shifts run from 0630-1900 and 1830-0700.
Unit schedulers will create the schedule.
Weekend requirements are every other weekend.
Holiday requirements are as needed to meet unit demands.
Floating may occur to MedSurg, inpatient rehab, or skilled care.
Scrub color for RNs is navy blue.
The first week includes classroom training followed by two 12-hour shifts.
Patient flow is busy, with admissions and discharges occurring within a short time frame.
Successful candidates will have a strong sense of teamwork and a friendly, positive attitude.
Engagement in providing a positive patient experience is essential.
The unit is transitioning to virtual nursing, which will adjust nurse-to-patient ratios to 1:6.
Each nurse will have their own CNA.
The charge RN will have no patient assignment.
Virtual nurses will assist with patient admissions, discharges, education, rounding, care plans, etc.
RTO is needed upfront, with a limit of 7 days or less per contract.
Additional RTO will not be approved after submissions.
Client can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment.
Charting system used is EPIC.
BSN is not required for submission.
Trauma level is not specified.
Care setting is acute.
Division is nursing.
