Job Description

As a key member of the performance management team in Capital Markets Finance, this role will participate in the development and implementation of stress testing tools to support the data generation and aggregation for various internal and regulatory stress testing programs, assessing the impact of macroeconomic and market-driven shocks on capital markets portfolios, collaborating with front office and risk partners, and building analytical tools with insights into how RBC Capital Markets balance sheet and key financial metrics perform under stress.

In this role, there are unique opportunities to gain a bird's-eye view into the inner workings of a large financial institution; learn finance and risk concepts and the capital markets business; employ data science skills; and learn how macroeconomic risks such as geopolitical tensions impact the Bank.

What will you do?

  • Design and execute financial models that capture sensitivities and valuation changes under stress scenarios across Capital Markets business
  • Translate macroeconomic scenarios into risk factor shocks using statistical or historical correlation approaches
  • Automate processes for scenario application, model execution, and report generation using VBA and Python
  • Adhere to internal governance standards and regulatory expectations for model production
  • Analyze data using empirical and statistical techniques to fine tune financial and risk projections
  • Participate in the development and analysis of stress scenarios, assumptions, and methodologies to ensure they are appropriate for use in across Capital Markets businesses

What do you need to succeed?

  • Experience in financial modelling, capital markets risk, and stress testing
  • Proficiency with Excel, Python, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral & written, with good interpersonal skills
  • Strong investigative mindset and acute attention to detail
  • Highly motivated, collaborative, and self-starter attitude

Nice-to-have

  • Exposure to Capital Markets products and businesses, and regulatory stress testing requirements
  • Knowledge and experience using analytical tools and managing large datasets
