Job description

OVERVIEW
Cadrex is searching for a Quality Inspector I to directly support site manufacturing practices through development, evaluation, and continual improvement of processes using quality concepts, principles and methodologies with the goal of consistently meeting or exceeding customer expectations of quality.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Use measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, steel rulers, pin gages, surface plate, and height gage
  • Read and interpret blueprints
  • Visual inspection of product according to customer requirements
  • Inspect and or test in-process product as well as finished product
  • Document inspection results by completing required reports/logs
  • Identify and quarantine all non-conforming product
  • Generate and summarize non-conforming reports for discrepant products
  • Keep measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions and identify and address issues with equipment that may need repair
  • Inspect and approve incoming materials where and when needed by confirming they meet specifications
  • Attend department meetings as required

Requirements
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Understand industry safety standards and quality expectations
  • 1 or more years working in a metal fabrication environment under a continuous improvement QMS with hands on inspection preferred
  • Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret graphs?
  • Knowledge of word processing software, spreadsheet software, e-mail software and the use of the internet

EDUCATION
  • High school diploma
  • Associate degree in related field preferred

  • Friday-Sunday; 6:00am - 6:30pm

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally loud.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, use hands and fingers, handle or feel, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
