Title: Construction Inspector
Reporting to: Office Director or Senior Project Manager
Salary Range: $58,500 - $76,000
Overview of Role
The Construction Inspector will be responsible for conducting and documenting inspections, verifying compliance with project specifications and industry standards, and collaborating with project teams to ensure the successful completion of construction projects. This role involves observing and reporting on the testing of various construction activities, and monitoring projects to ensure adherence to construction plans, schedules, bid items, permits, and documents.

Essential Functions
โ€ข Serve as liaison with clients, assist clients with all project-related inspection outcome decisions
โ€ข Plan, organize, and direct the project management construction inspection functions through all phases of a project - Preconstruction to Closeout to ensure contract compliance in the aspects of inspections:
- Preconstruction - review design management, schedule management, constructability review, budget development and cost control, contract administration, construction bidding and planning, and permitting strategy and process.
- Construction - management of the contractor from the buyout, procurement, risk management, quality assurance, safety, and overall project execution.
- Closeout - provide inspection documentation during the closeout process of the project that meets the project specifications
โ€ข Inspect projects during various stages of construction to ensure the contractor is in compliance with project plans and specifications, applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations, manage the quality of materials used, and labor staff personnel
โ€ข Reports; observing and recording on-site construction activities and conformance to project plans and specifications.
โ€ข Will be required to have the ability to read and interpret plans and specifications to perform the listed duties
โ€ข Look over and interpret maps, specifications, plans, diagrams, and contract specifications
โ€ข Input inspection details and other related information onto the computer system, update and retrieve information, if necessary, prepare daily reports, photo reports, monthly reports, and logs
โ€ข Coordinate projects and provide information to contractors, consultants, developers, and staff
โ€ข Implement best management practices (BMP) inspections with the contractor and ensure the contractor maintains BMP reports, training logs, permits, and updates to the BMPs
โ€ข Read the current schedule and understand what work is ongoing and recognize and question a delay/discrepancy in relation to various milestone inspections.
โ€ข Contributes to team performance by collaboration and effective communication.
โ€ข Contributes to and understands the clients desired project outcomes and identifies opportunities to add value to accomplish the desired outcomes.
โ€ข Adds to team effort by accomplishing other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a positive proactive approach to the role and will be committed to delivering customer service excellence.
โ€ข Relevant experience in construction management, construction inspection, or a bachelor's degree in construction management, Architecture, Engineering, or the related field is preferred.
โ€ข 3-5 years experience in a variety of building types and construction inspections through all phases of construction.
โ€ข Relevant certification such as; IIBEC, ACI, ICC, OSHA, USACE, or equivalent.
โ€ข Excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing, with practical and logical qualities; good problem-solving skills, strong numeracy, and financial management skills; ability to write clear and precise reports and relate complex information to a diverse range of people; ability to inspire and manage diverse teams. Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite of programs including Microsoft Project.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
โ€ข Often work in an outdoor environment. Equipment used includes computers and standard office machines. Essential physical tasks include: the ability to work on a computer and the ability to answer and speak on a telephone.
โ€ข May work on-site, including ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized. This factor is important if the amount and kind of climbing required exceeds that required for ordinary motion and the ability to lift 50 lbs.
