Position Overview
The CNC Lathe Setup Machinist will be responsible for setting up, verifying, and operating CNC lathe machines, ensuring parts meet strict dimensional and quality requirements. This role requires strong experience with precision machining, reading complex drawings, and performing in-process inspections.
You will play a key role in maintaining high quality standards and efficient production within a collaborative and safety-focused shop environment.
Key Responsibilities
Perform full setup of CNC lathe machines for production runs
Verify programs and tooling before production
Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring instruments
Read and interpret technical drawings, GD&T, and machining specifications
Maintain strict quality standards and tolerances
Troubleshoot machining issues and support continuous improvement
Maintain a clean and safe work environment
Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and production targets
Required Qualifications
Minimum 5 years experience setting up CNC lathe machines
Strong ability to read and interpret machining drawings
Experience using precision measuring equipment (micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.)
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
Good communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Experience
Experience machining tight tolerance precision components
Background in industries such as aerospace, defense, nuclear, medical devices, or high-precision manufacturing
Machinist certification or trade training considered an asset
Experience with complex setups and problem solving on the shop floor
