Job description


We are looking for a talented Field Service Power Generation Technician / Mechanic - Helper to join our Distribution Business in Kearny, NJ.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
  • Completing repair activities on generators or components
  • Engaging with customers in a courteous and professional manner
  • Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools
  • Maintain detailed records of service
  • Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies
  • Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products
  • Maintain own tools

Responsibilities
In order to be successful in this role you will need the following:
  • Broad mechanical and electrical repair and maintenance abilities.
  • High Voltage / Low Voltage experience.
  • Capable of electrical repair and maintenance with minimal supervision - hands on exposure to working on power generation products.
  • Primarily engaged in preventative maintenance or basic repairs/diagnostics on generators.
  • Basic Diesel Engine experience.
  • Requires direct supervision and review of workmanship quality.
    Education, Licenses, Certifications:
    Apprentice Trained Power Generation/ Electrical Technician (Preferred)
    Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution
    Current relevant electrical certification
    Locally valid driving permit
    This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
    Experience:
    Helper A/ PG/PM Tech
    A worker who must furnish a set of hand tools and possess limited knowledge of Cummins
    engines. They may do complex mechanical work with the support of an advance mechanic or a
    working foreman. Must be able and capable to perform fluid and filter changes on assigned
    products.

Qualifications
This is a Union role and you will be required to joint the Union. Hours are Monday to Friday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. Hours are subject to change due to business needs or conditions.
Helper A/ PG/PM Tech
A worker who must furnish a set of hand tools and possess limited knowledge of Cummins
engines. They may do complex mechanical work with the support of an advance mechanic or a
working foreman. Must be able and capable to perform fluid and filter changes on assigned
products.
- A current valid license is required for this role
- This role requires a 5 year motor vehicle report, free from major violations
- This role requires applicant to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical
- 3 years driving experience
- This role is subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) driving regulations including Hours of Service and Electronic Log Booking Device use
-Federal law requires operators of commercial vehicles to be 21 years of age or older, applicant must be 21 years of age
