Job description

Job Title: Lab TechnicianJob Description

This Lab Technician role offers a hands-on educational experience in a microbiological testing laboratory. Under the close supervision of the Lab Management team or a Lead Technologist, you will support daily laboratory operations while learning how to perform laboratory functions in compliance with regulatory and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) guidelines, including 21 CFR Parts 210 and 211 and applicable ISO standards.

Responsibilities
  • Obtain a working knowledge of the laboratory Quality System and Laboratory Information System.
  • Support the daily operation of a microbiological testing laboratory in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Receive, unpack, and organize customer samples for laboratory processing.
  • Organize and prepare customer returns for laboratory processing.
  • Discard customer samples under supervision and guidance, following established procedures.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly routine cleaning of all laboratory equipment as needed.
  • Assist with laboratory operations inventory, ensuring adequate supplies are available.
  • Restock consumables and materials required for sample processing in a timely manner.
  • Operate a laser cutter under supervision and guidance, following all safety and operating procedures.
  • Dispose of microbial cultures, chemicals, recyclables, sharps, and glass in the appropriate waste containers according to safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Comply with all aspects of laboratory safety, including adherence to safety stations, safety manuals, safety standard operating procedures (SOPs), and MSDS/SDS sheets.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and contribute to a collaborative work environment.
  • Manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail.
Essential Skills
  • High school diploma or Associate degree in Microbiology or a related discipline.
  • 0–2 years of related experience in a laboratory setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic understanding of microbiology and laboratory practices.
  • Familiarity with quality control principles in a laboratory environment.
  • Ability to learn and apply GMP guidelines, including 21 CFR Parts 210 and 211, and ISO guidelines.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
