Title: Substitute Teacher
Reports to: Principal
Job Goal:
A substitute teacher teaches students in the absence of their regular teacher. In cases where the regular teacher is not due for return for a considerable time, the school may require the substitute teacher to perform all the job responsibilities of the absent teacher. It is the responsibility of the substitute teacher to ensure an effective class environment and smooth flow of lessons for the students. A substitute teacher is responsible for providing a safe-learning environment that fosters academic excellence and spiritual growth in the Catholic faith; mind, body, and soul.

Our school has small class sizes with an average of 12 students. The parent support in our community is amazing and is one of our staff's favorite things! The students are wonderful and love helping others and providing service to our community.

Qualifications:
  • Must have strong commitment to Catholic education and model behavior aligned with St. Mary/McCormick Catholic Academy’s mission and values.
  • Must have at least 60 semester hours of satisfactory credit (grade ‘C’ or better) combined from one or more regionally accredited two- or four-year colleges or universities.
  • Must hold a teacher’s license or a current substitute teaching permit to qualify
  • Must complete and pass a criminal history and background check
  • Has taken or will take Protecting God’s Children Workshop

Performance Responsibilities:
  • Execute class and lessons according to the absent teacher’s written teaching plan
  • Ensure method of instruction and classroom management are in adherence with St. Mary/McCormick Catholic Academy’s policies and goals
  • Create a positive classroom environment
  • Maintain confidentiality of student or school related information
  • Work effectively with all staff members to promote positive relationships with students and parents
  • Demonstrate professional responsibility in enforcing school policies and regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned
