Lab Assistant
Job description:
Hours: 7:30am to 4:00pm M-T; Fridays 7:30am to 1:30pm
General Purpose:
  • NEXus Pain Center is seeking a full-time laboratory assistant to aid with daily operations in the laboratory. The laboratory assistant is responsible for performing standard laboratory procedures including specimen collection (urine only), preparing laboratory samples, and other duties as assigned.
  • This position will support the scheduling of the collections with support and training from the lab administration team.

Responsibilities:
  • Order urine drug confirmatory testing for numerous clinical providers
  • Verify accuracy of patient information on laboratory requisition forms
  • Review urine drug screening test results
  • Document and order laboratory test for confirmatory testing
  • Navigate and access patient charts for medication verification and toxicology documentation
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of pain management medications and drugs
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills
  • Critical thinking skills and decisive judgment are necessary
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Possess notable skills in working with various electronic platforms and computer systems such as eClinicalWorks (ECW)

Education/Experience Required:
High School Diploma/GED
One year experience in a clinical setting
