How to make $80,000 a year without a degree?

In hiring for high-paying roles without a degree, many individuals pursue careers in skilled trades, sales, or technology fields such as cybersecurity or IT support, which often value experience and certifications over formal education. Jobs in these areas may require technical knowledge, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently or in team environments.

What is the 70 30 rule in hiring?

The 70 30 rule in hiring suggests that employers should spend approximately 70% of their interview time assessing a candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications, and 30% evaluating their cultural fit and interpersonal skills. This approach helps ensure a balanced evaluation of both technical ability and compatibility with the team. It is often used by hiring managers to improve the quality of their hiring decisions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in Hiring, and why are they important?

To thrive in Hiring, you need a strong understanding of recruitment processes, talent sourcing, and candidate evaluation, often supported by a degree in human resources or a related field. Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS), HR information systems, and recruitment marketing tools is typically required. Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to assess cultural fit help set top hiring professionals apart. These skills ensure the identification and selection of high-quality candidates who contribute to organizational success.

Freelance consultants, project managers in large industries, and certain sales roles with commissions can also reach this level with sufficient workload and expertise.

What does 'In Hiring' mean in a job application process?

'In Hiring' typically refers to a stage in the recruitment process where a candidate's application is being actively considered for a position. It means that the employer is reviewing applications, conducting interviews, or making decisions about potential hires. This status indicates that you are still being considered and have not been rejected, but a final decision has not yet been made. It's common for companies to update candidates on their status as 'In Hiring' to keep them informed during the selection process.
