Job description

Job Description

Position Overview

The Senior Geospatial Analyst will support geothermal project development by conducting geospatial, geological, and site suitability analyses that inform routing, siting, permitting, and project development decisions. Working closely with the Senior Manager, Routing & Siting and cross-functional teams, this role will analyze environmental, geophysical, and spatial datasets to identify opportunities, constraints, and project risks throughout the project lifecycle.

The ideal candidate combines strong GIS and analytical capabilities with a curiosity for learning, a problem-solving mindset, and the ability to communicate findings effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

This position is on-site at Invenergy's downtown Chicago, IL office.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct geospatial, geological, and site suitability analyses to support geothermal project development, routing, and siting activities.

  • Compile, evaluate, and synthesize environmental, geophysical, and publicly available datasets to identify project opportunities, constraints, and risks.

  • Support site characterization efforts through analysis of geological, geophysical, thermal, seismic, geochemical, and related datasets.

  • Develop maps, GIS products, technical memorandums, presentations, and other deliverables to support project decision-making.

  • Collaborate with engineering, development, permitting, environmental, and project management teams throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Utilize ArcGIS and related tools to perform spatial analyses, manage data, and support project workflows.

  • Maintain geospatial data quality, governance, and document management standards.

  • Support consultant and contractor management activities, including preparation of scopes of work, technical documentation, RFPs, and contract exhibits.

  • Track project progress, identify risks, and communicate findings to project stakeholders and management.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, including the evaluation of new tools, technologies, and workflows.

  • Assist with permitting, development, and electrical interconnection activities, as needed.

  • Support project execution through research, documentation, data organization, and cross-functional coordination.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geophysics, Geosciences, Engineering, GIS, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 2+ years of relevant professional experience in geospatial analysis, geosciences, engineering, renewable energy, or a related field.

  • Experience with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online/Portal, and ESRI geospatial workflows.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex spatial, environmental, and technical datasets.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, and commitment to continuous learning.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Teams, OneNote).

  • Ability to travel occasionally as business needs require.

  • Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting geothermal, renewable energy, transmission, mining, oil & gas, or infrastructure projects.

  • Experience working with raster datasets and geophysical data products.

  • Experience performing complex geospatial analyses.

  • Python programming or GIS automation experience.

  • Experience with Seequent software, including Leapfrog and/or Central.

  • Familiarity with permitting, routing, siting, or project development processes.

Base Pay

$72,000.00 - $85,000.00 USD Annual
Bonus: 15%

The base pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for the position. Invenergy considers a number of factors when determining base pay offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education and skills.
