We are seeking an Environmental Specialist to support our mining, ready mix, and asphalt operations by ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and driving best practices across our sites.

What You'll DoEnvironmental Compliance & Reporting- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including EPA, CARB, AQMD, and other applicable agencies
- Maintain and manage environmental permits, including air, water, stormwater, waste, and related operational permits
- Oversee compliance related to AST/UST systems, hazardous materials storage, pressure vessels, and spill prevention programs
- Conduct site inspections, audits, and compliance reviews to identify risks and ensure adherence to environmental requirements
Field Support & Site Operations- Partner with plant managers, operations, fleet, and safety teams to support environmental initiatives across multiple locations
- Monitor dust control, water usage, stormwater systems, waste management practices, and general site environmental conditions
- Support hazmat handling, spill prevention, spill response, and reporting procedures
- Assist with environmental compliance for fixed and mobile equipment, tanks, and site infrastructure
- Travel regularly to plants, mines, shops, and job sites, including driving 6+ hours when needed
Program Development & Improvement- Help develop and implement environmental policies, procedures, and training programs
- Track environmental KPIs and identify opportunities for operational and compliance improvement
- Support recordkeeping, reporting, and corrective action follow-up for inspections and regulatory requirements
Collaboration & Communication- Work cross-functionally with Operations, Safety, Fleet, and Technical Services
- Serve as a point of contact for environmental agencies, inspectors, and compliance partners
- Provide training and guidance to field personnel on environmental compliance, hazmat awareness, and best practices
What We're Looking For- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
- 2+ years of environmental compliance experience, preferably in construction materials, mining, manufacturing, or heavy industrial operations
- Working knowledge of environmental regulations and programs, including EPA, CARB, SWPPP, SPCC, AQMD, AST/UST, and hazardous materials compliance
- Experience with permits, inspections, reporting, and agency interaction
- Familiarity with pressure vessels, storage tanks, hazmat requirements, and field-based environmental operations
- Strong organizational, communication, and follow-through skills
- Ability to travel between multiple plant and job site locations
- Valid driver's license and willingness to drive long distances, including 6+ hours as needed
- Occasional overnight travel
