Job description

Bus Driver

Under general supervision drives university buses, vans or other vehicles to provide prompt and safe transportation for University students and staff. Transports equipment, faculty, staff, and students of the University to local and out-of-state events.

Essential duties include transporting University vehicles for various departments, maintaining log of mileage, fuel and passengers to prepare state required reports, ensuring bus is always safe, assisting in driver training for other employees, washing clean dump restroom of bus on return from trips, responsible for loading and unloading luggage, and performing other job-related duties as assigned.

Position requires a High School diploma or G.E.D. or equivalent and specialized or technical training. Required licensing/certification includes CDL with passenger endorsement and a valid Texas Driver's License preferred.

Knowledge of state, local, and county laws, problem-solving and decision-making, operating equipment, time management, ability to work independently, communicate effectively, and three (3) to five (5) years related experience are necessary.

Working/environmental conditions include reach and grasp objects, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, lift or crawl, prolonged standing and/or walking, handle moderate weight objects, may require routine travel, and work a fluctuating work schedule.
