SUMMARY

The primary function of the Operations Ocean Import is to process all shipments, coordinating the movement and monitoring while in route. The position requires handling of shipments from start to finish ensuring compliance with DSV policies as well as government regulations.ย ย  This role serves as the primary point of contact for customers and will provide the highest level of customer service and quality by efficiently processing all inbound requirements before or within agreed time frames.ย  Direct communication with customers, overseas offices, ocean carriers, warehouses and truckers is required.ย ย 

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Daily management and coordination of shipments
  • Establish and coordinate schedules with carriers and tender shipments
  • Create, coordinate country specific documents
  • Adhere to all domestic and international shipping regulations
  • Track and trace all shipments
  • Prepare and publish reports, as requested
  • Proactively identify problems and swiftly implement the appropriate solutions
  • Confirm rates with carriers
  • Responsible for cost containment of shipments, via accounting system
  • Evaluate shipments, consolidate loads, select most cost-effective method of pick up and/or delivery
  • Ensure all DSV KPIs met throughout the movement of the shipment
  • Lane analysis required on orders to select the most appropriate mode of transport within customer requirements
  • Daily Communication with customers on relevant issues and resolution
  • Manage new account implementation from standard operating procedure to execution

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • A minimum of one to two years international transportation industry experience or,
  • Education in supply chain logistics, international transportation, or a related field of study.
  • CIFFA certificate, an asset
  • Dangerous Goods Certification, an asset
  • GDP Training, if required

  • Good command, both verbal and written, English skills.ย
