Inovalon was founded in 1998 on the belief that technology, and data specifically, would empower the transformation of the entire healthcare ecosystem for the better, improving both outcomes and economics. At Inovalon, we believe that when our customers are successful in their missions, healthcare improves. Therefore, we focus on empowering them with data-driven solutions. And the momentum is building.
Together, as ONE Inovalon, we are a united force delivering solutions that address healthcare's greatest needs. Through our mission-based culture of inclusion and innovation, our organization brings value not just to our customers, but to the millions of patients and members they serve.
Overview:
The Implementation Engineer works at the intersection of technology and customer service, supporting the onboarding and integration of new clients onto Inovalon's platform. This is an early-career role suited to someone who is technically curious, comfortable working directly with customers, and eager to grow their expertise in healthcare technology. The role includes participation in a planned on-call rotation for conversion events that occur outside of standard business hours.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Work with customers and end users to gather requirements, clarify data readiness, and communicate file format specifications throughout the implementation and conversion process;
• Perform system and data analysis, including troubleshooting errors during conversion events, understanding downstream impact, and documenting root cause findings;
• Build and configure systems based on design specifications, validate that configurations meet requirements, and maintain project deliverables within the assigned scope of work;
• Participate in an on-call rotation to support planned conversion events that occur during evenings and weekends;
• Collaborate across the full client lifecycle, including implementation, go-live, and optimization;
• Adhere to all confidentiality, HIPAA, regulatory, and other such policies, procedures, and requirements as outlined within Employer's Operating Policies and Procedures in all ways and at all times with respect to any aspect of the data handled or services rendered in the scope of work;
• Maintain compliance with Inovalon's policies, procedures and mission statement, and fulfill those responsibilities and/or duties that may be reasonably provided by Inovalon for the purpose of achieving operational and financial success.
Job Requirements:
• Minimum 2 years of experience on technical projects in a consulting, analyst, developer, or solution engineering capacity;
• Hands-on experience with web services, APIs, and system integrations;
• Proficiency in SQL required; familiarity with data normalization principles and the ability to work with flat file formats and data conversion processes;
• Comfort working with technical tools including development environments, system configuration, and log or source code analysis;
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to perform root cause analysis and document findings clearly;
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders;
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workstreams and deliverables in a project environment;
• Strong customer-facing communication skills, with the ability to translate technical requirements into clear guidance and maintain composure and professionalism under time-sensitive conditions;
• Healthcare technology experience is a plus but not required; curiosity and a willingness to develop domain expertise are expected.
Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field strongly preferred;
• Equivalent healthcare technology experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship (e.g. H-1B, TN, or E-3). Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States as a condition of employment. (This is only applicable for US-based positions)
If you don't meet every qualification listed but are excited about our mission and the work described, we encourage you to apply. Inovalon is most interested in finding the best candidate for the job, and you may be just the right person for this or other roles.
By embracing inclusion, we enhance our work environment and drive business success. Inovalon strives to provide equal opportunities to the communities where we operate and to our clients and everyone whom we serve. We endeavor to create a culture of inclusion in which our associates feel empowered to bring their full, authentic selves to work and pursue their professional goals in an equitable setting. We understand that by fostering this type of culture, and welcoming different perspectives, we generate innovation and growth.
