Job description

Summary

The Center for Innovations in Quality Effectiveness and Safety (IQuESt) at Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center and Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a talented individual for a full-time position as an Implementation Scientist. IQuESt is the largest center for Health Services Research within the Southwest. We conduct high-quality scientific research that improves the health of patients across the nation, by helping to ensure the patient-centered delivery of scientific discoveries. This Implementation Scientist position will support multiple research and implementation projects as part of the Implementation Science and Innovation Program. Members translate health care innovations within learning health care systems, advance and apply concepts and methods of implementation science, and lead healthcare improvement locally and nationally.

Job Duties
  • Secure external funding as PI or a co-PI on projects related to population health sciences (e.g., behavioral interventions, health services research, implementation of best practices)
  • Provide dissemination and implementation (D&I) methodological advising and expertise to other investigators/projects
  • Support interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Serve as a co-investigator and mentor on D&I grants providing D&I science expertise and supporting the professional development of future implementation scientists and practitioners
  • Participate in teaching D&I seminars, workshops, and courses
  • Collaborate actively and be a core member of the IQuESt Implementation Science & Innovations Program
  • Participate in the intellectual life of IQuESt and Baylor College of Medicine, via faculty committees, professional development activities, and department service opportunities.
Minimum Qualifications
  • A PhD, DrPH, or equivalent research doctoral degree in a relevant discipline (completed by start date).
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct scholarly research and capacity to obtain peer-reviewed funding.
  • Demonstrated publication record.
  • Demonstrated experience as an educator.
  • Ability to mentor/ coach post-doctoral fellows.
  • Highly self-motivated individual, enthusiastic about scientific discovery, and able to collaborate closely and effectively with other team members.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the department, healthcare system, and community.
