Sudden Service, INC (SSI) is a subsidiary of the Taylor Group of Companies, a third-generation family-owned business based in Louisville, MS since 1927.Position SummaryThe Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, improving, and managing manufacturing and remanufacturing processes at the SSI Philadelphia Distribution & Operations Center (DOC). This position supports the production of aftermarket replacement parts and the rebuilding of complete lift trucks, assemblies, engines, transmissions, axles, and components.The Manufacturing Engineer works closely with Production, Quality Control, Supply Chain, Service, and Engineering personnel to improve safety, quality, productivity, delivery performance, and cost. Responsibilities include manufacturing process development, machining and welding process support, tooling and fixture design, ERP integration, data analysis, capacity planning, continuous improvement projects, and technical problem solving.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesManufacturing Process DevelopmentDesign, develop, document, and implement manufacturing processes for parts production, component rebuilding, and complete equipment refurbishment.Evaluate and improve manufacturing methods, workflow, tooling, fixtures, equipment, and material handling systems.Develop standardized work instructions and manufacturing procedures.Coordinate process improvements with Production Supervision and Operations personnel.Machining and Fabrication SupportSupport machining operations including CNC machining, process routing, work holding, tooling selection, and setup reduction.Support fabrication operations including cutting, burning, bending, fitting, welding, and assembly processes.Develop and improve welding and fabrication methods to improve quality and efficiency.Troubleshoot manufacturing issues involving dimensional accuracy, weld quality, material flow, and process capability.Assist with fixture and jig design to improve productivity and repeatability.Rebuild and Remanufacturing OperationsDevelop and improve processes for:Complete forklift rebuildingEngine rebuildingTransmission rebuildingAxle rebuildingHydraulic component rebuildingAftermarket service parts manufacturingAnalyze repair and rebuild operations to reduce cycle times and improve throughput.Establish standards for rebuild quality, process consistency, and labor efficiency.ERP and Manufacturing Systems IntegrationSupport ERP system integration with manufacturing operations.Create and maintain manufacturing routings, bills of material, labor standards, and work center information.Review manufacturing data for accuracy and process effectiveness.Develop reports and dashboards to support operational decision making.Assist in implementation of digital manufacturing and data collection initiatives.Continuous ImprovementLead and support Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement projects.Perform root cause analysis for quality, production, and operational issues.Conduct time studies and workflow analysis to improve labor utilization and productivity.Identify waste reduction opportunities in materials, labor, inventory, and manufacturing processes.Research and Data AnalysisCollect and analyze operational data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.Develop performance metrics related to productivity, quality, cost, delivery, and safety.Conduct economic analysis and return-on-investment studies for capital expenditures and process improvements.Research new manufacturing technologies, equipment, tooling, and automation opportunities.Education RequirementsRequired:Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME), orBachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering (BSIE)Preferred:Manufacturing Engineering coursework or experience.Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma training.Process improvement experience.Experience RequirementsPreferred Qualifications:Experience in manufacturing, fabrication, machining, welding, assembly, or remanufacturing environments.Experience with ERP/MRP systems.Experience with process improvement and data analysis.Experience using CAD software and manufacturing drawings.Knowledge of manufacturing methods, tooling, fixtures, and production systems.Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.Working knowledge of manufacturing and industrial engineering principles.Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.Understanding of machining, welding, fabrication, and assembly processes.Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and data analysis tools.Strong organizational and project management abilities.Effective written and verbal communication skills.Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Ability to work effectively in both office and production environments.BenefitsMedical/PrescriptionDentalVision401KVacation10 HolidaysLife InsuranceSSI is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
