Job description

Community Retail PRN Float Pharmacist

This position assists the Community Pharmacy Manager with the direction and development of pharmacy staff to optimize patient experience and delivery of services. The Community Staff Pharmacist provides direct patient care services including but not limited to drug regimen review, disease state management, medication counseling, adherence monitoring, discharge medication reconciliation, prescription dispensing, and immunization administration. Proficient with all steps of dispensing and verification workflows. This position is responsible for performing all pharmacy operations in accordance with accredited policies and procedures, ethical and professional practices, Board of Pharmacy, and State and Federal requirements. The Community Staff Pharmacist maintains appropriate patient record documentation for clinical and dispensing services. Adheres to best practices for medication safety and ensures appropriate documentation of medication events. The Community Staff Pharmacist is responsible for inventory management functions, including maintaining 340B program integrity as applicable to practice site.

Baptist Health is looking for a Community Retail PRN Float Pharmacist to join our Baptist Health Paducah Community Pharmacy team!

  • Assists the manager with oversight of pharmacy operations and personnel.
  • Supports the orientation, training, and development of community pharmacy staff.
  • Ensures compliance with Baptist Health policies, 340B program (if applicable), accrediting bodies, REMS compliance, third-party payers (including audits), and state and federal regulations.
  • Ensures timely completion of all claim and invoice reconciliation as needed by the Community Pharmacy Manager.
  • Ensures adequate control and documentation of controlled substance ordering, receiving, inventory management, and dispensing in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Maintains compliance with immunization protocols and ensures all staff have current training, including BLS CPR certification.
  • Ensures the integrity of medications by assuring storage under proper conditions (e.g., refrigeration) and security.
  • Monitors drug shortages and implements solutions to avoid therapy delays.
  • Supports the development and implementation of strategies to eliminate or minimize medication errors.
  • Reports Good Catches, Adverse Drug Events, and Medication/Fluid errors.
  • Coordinates safe transitions of care from the hospital with patients, caregivers, other institutions, providers, and pharmacies.
  • Ensures prompt and friendly service, prioritizing the patient's well-being in all functions and duties.
  • Performs responsibilities of Community Pharmacy Manager during their absence.
  • Kentucky Board of Pharmacy license in good standing.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or Doctorate of Pharmacy required.
  • Must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Must obtain Immunization certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Community Pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
