Role: IT Project manager/Program Manager

Location: Hybrid, Chicago, IL, Local candidates only 
Duration: 6 Months with Extension
Interview: 2 Rounds of Video

Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Program Manager to lead the enterprise-wide migration from TIBCO to the Solace messaging platform. The ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of technical acumenstrategic leadership, and exceptional communication skills, capable of influencing executive stakeholders and driving complex platform transformations across multiple business and technology teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Leadership: Direct and manage the full lifecycle of the TIBCO Decommission and Solace Migration program, ensuring successful delivery aligned with enterprise goals.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with application and platform teams to coordinate migration activities, identify dependencies, and resolve blockers.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Deliver clear, concise updates to executive leadership, senior management, and technical teams; tailor messaging appropriately for each audience.
  • Risk and Issue Management: Anticipate potential challenges, develop mitigation plans, and proactively escalate issues to ensure program success.
  • Progress and Reporting: Monitor timelines, budgets, and deliverables; maintain transparent tracking through Jira, Confluence, Clarity, and Power BI dashboards.
  • Process Optimization: Identify opportunities to improve migration processes, drive efficiency, and enforce best practices across the program.
  • Decision-Making and Problem Solving: Leverage strong analytical and contextual understanding to guide technical and strategic decisions.

Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication, with proven ability to present complex information to executive leadership.
  • Self-Driven & Resourceful: Demonstrated ability to operate independently, ask the right questions, and navigate ambiguity.
  • Technical & Contextual Expertise: Working knowledge of Enterprise Architecture, Platform Engineering, and DevOps principles and practices.
  • Influence & Negotiation: Skilled in influencing cross-functional teams and building consensus among diverse stakeholders.
  • Decision-Making & Problem Solving: Strategic thinker with the ability to make sound judgments under pressure.
  • Tools: Proficiency in Jira, Confluence, Clarity, and Power BI for project tracking, documentation, and reporting.
  • Methodology: Experienced in Agile and SAFe Agile frameworks.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s or PMP/PgMP certification preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in program or portfolio management within large enterprise environments.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale technology migrations or platform decommissions.
  • Solid understanding of integration, messaging platforms, SDLC management, and cloud-based architectures.

Preferred Experience:

  • Hands-on exposure to Solace, TIBCO, or other enterprise messaging systems.
  • Background in Enterprise Architecture or Platform Engineering leadership.
  • Experience managing programs with high visibility to executive leadership and board-level stakeholders.
