About the Role

As a Student Tech, you’ll work alongside experienced Radiologic Technologists and Radiologists, gaining valuable hands-on experience across imaging modalities. This role is designed to support your clinical learning while helping you develop the technical and patient care skills needed for success in the field.


What You’ll Do
  • Assist technologists with imaging procedures while learning in a supervised clinical setting
  • Support patient positioning and exam preparation in accordance with safety protocols
  • Help obtain high-quality images while adhering to radiation safety standards
  • Utilize imaging equipment to assist with image acquisition, analysis, and documentation under supervision
  • Assist with contrast setup (will not be responsible for loading or priming injectors)
  • Perform equipment checks, warm-ups, and support quality control processes under guidance
  • Assist with patient workflow, including:
    • Patient arrival and check-in
    • Tracking exams
    • Scanning orders
    • Scheduling procedures in the Radiology Information System (RIS)
  • Work collaboratively with technologists and radiologists to support efficient patient care
  • Maintain competency in learned skills and completed clinical competencies

Important Notes
  • All imaging tasks are performed under the supervision of a registered technologist or radiologist
  • Student Techs will not independently perform procedures or hold patients/detectors during imaging

Education:

  • Currently enrolled as an active second-year student in an ARRT, ARDMS, NMTCB, or CNMT-approved imaging program
  • Must be in good academic standing and progressing toward program completion

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR Certification
    • Must be obtained in accordance with American Heart Association (AHA) standards
  • Pennsylvania Clearances (with renewal):
    • Act 31 – Child Abuse Reporting
    • Act 33 – Child Abuse Clearance
    • Act 34 – Criminal Background Check
    • Act 73 – FBI Clearance
