Job description

Freedom Technology Solutions Group is seekingย anย Imageryย Scientistย withย knowledge ofย imagery evaluations,ย image quality studies, new product/sensor initializations, product algorithm assessments, and the development of image quality equations (IQEs).ย ย Candidatesย shouldย possessย experience inย full image processing and digital signal processing.ย Candidateย shouldย possessย a high levelย of knowledge ofย image chain analysis to include atmospheric modeling, signal quality and noise, optics, detector calibration, and image processing of pixel data to display radiometrically correct values.ย ย ย 

Responsibilities:

  • Reports to a manager or head of a unit/department onย a weekly basis.
  • Understanding of imagery scientist processes and procedures for the team.
  • Contribution to team structure and cadence.
  • Providing metrics, reports, and presentations as requested by the government lead and PMย 
  • Work to improve efficiency with team processes
  • Contribute toย teamย discussions and recommend improvements.ย 
  • Guides and supports junior level personnel
  • Conduct root cause problemย analysis and develop technical solutions to problems

Key Technologies:

  • ย Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Familiarity with current GEOINT systems, products and development, as well as exploitation software packages such as all ELTs, AGITK, and other software plug-ins or applications necessary to develop test and verification methodologies.
  • Knowledge of PAN, IR, MSI/HSI, RADAR, and LIDAR on both space or airborne platforms.ย 
  • Jira, Miro, Collaboration tools
  • Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
  • Understanding services (e.g., EC2, Lambda, S3, Kubernetes Services)
  • DevSecOps & Automation
  • Understanding of GitLab CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) (Terraform, AWS CloudFormation) and Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift)
  • Agile, DevSecOps, & Development Lifecycle Tools
  • SonarQube, Nexus, etc. for code and dependency scanningย 

ย Required Qualifications:

  • An active TS/SCI clearance (eligible for CI Poly)
  • Bachelor's degree in Imaging Science, Physics, Engineering, Mathematics or related STEM field.ย  ย 
  • 4-7 years of experience
  • Ability to develop and use more complex concepts and processes
  • Working knowledge and practical application of modeling components of the image creation path to include sensor, detector, atmospheric, and material properties.
  • Simulation and modeling experience.
  • Understanding of the systems engineering lifecycle to include independent testing and data verification.
  • Ability to develop algorithm description documentation for software development.
  • Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project.
  • Works generally independent and collaborative in natureย 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of secure coding best practices and compliance standards (NIST, FedRAMP, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Cloud Platforms (AWS, Azure)
  • Experience with modern software development practices
  • Experience with navigating organizational security processes.
