Job description

At Federal Heath, our success is a direct result of our exceptional people. We are looking to add a talented and motivated Estimator/ Production Manager who shares our values of teamwork, commitment, integrity, and mutual respect to our Racine, WI team!

This role will primarily be responsible for the following:

ESTIMATING:

Estimate screen printing, retail signage (fabrication), or digital imaging production costs. Analyze sketches, drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documents provided to prepare time, cost, labor, percentage of profit, and material estimates.

PRODUCTION PLANNING:

Review customer order specifications and established manufacturing procedures to determine finished routing of customer order to manufacturing. Responsible for timeliness and accuracy of manufacturing orders. Act as the liaison between the Account Managers, and manufacturing to ensure accuracy of manufacturing orders.

  • Receive request for quote from the Account Manager and prepare estimates.
  • Gather information to estimate the job including artwork, drawings, specifications, and any other related material.
  • Work closely with internal and external customers to formulate estimates, offer suggestions and opinions.
  • Create bill of material and routing, utilizing knowledge of products and printing techniques for estimating and release of manufacturing orders.
  • Compute cost estimates and price summaries for specified jobs, and present prepared estimates.
  • Request that purchasing call suppliers as needed for material pricing. Secure pricing from approved outside vendors as needed.
  • Maintain technical knowledge by attending workshops and seminars as well as completing FHLU (Federal Heath Lean University) courses and other courses as assigned - will be provided.
  • Receive or generate and verify the production order, verifying the quoted layout, drawing or specifications, and routing sequence.
  • Review with the assigned AM regardless of the order being new or a repeat.
  • For new orders: Determine production routings by referencing the file for the following: layout, press, material, tooling, and ink needed using established production guidelines.
  • For repeat orders: Review prior production routing on repeat orders for accuracy related to: layout, press, material, tooling, and ink needed. Using established production guidelines.
  • Review materials and see if we have on hand or need to order. Fill out Purchase Requisitions if needed.
  • Accurately maintain production and customer files with respect to all materials and plans for the job.
  • Prior to releasing the job to manufacturing, complete required print work packets.
  • Advise department manager immediately of any known potential delays. Evaluate production changes that may arise, and review with the department employees or supervisor. change job file records accordingly.
  • Maintain a Lean and clean work area.
  • Follow all applicable ISO Estimating and Production Planning procedures including work instructions
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Three to five years related experience and/or training helpful in Screen printing/digital imaging estimating and production planning
  • Language ability: Must be able to read and interpret documents, drawings, and procedures. Communicate clearly with others via writing or the spoken word, Able to write reports. May occasionally need to speak in a group setting as well as with customers and other employees.
  • Mathematical skills: Ability to accurately calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Understand and apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Reasoning ability: Must be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Deduce the root cause of problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Computer skills: Must be competent in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
