Job Summary:
The PACS Administrator is responsible for the daily operation, maintenance, and optimization of the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) and related cardiology imaging technologies within a healthcare environment. This role ensures seamless integration between imaging systems and hospital information systems, supporting efficient clinical workflows and contributing to high-quality patient care.
The PACS Administrator partners closely with cardiology clinicians, application teams, vendors, and internal Information Technology staff to support system functionality, troubleshoot issues, and enhance workflow efficiency. This role also analyzes business and clinical needs, translating them into effective technical solutions while adhering to organizational standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
Key responsibilities include collaborating with end users to understand workflow requirements, coordinating with vendors and technical teams on system enhancements and issue resolution, and ensuring cardiology imaging systems are reliable and optimized for clinical use.
The PACS Administrator may be required to provide on-call or off-hours support, which may include coverage outside of standard business hours. The ability and means to travel throughout the UVM Health System is required.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
Experience:
2+ years of experience with PACS application or system support and/or clinical experience supporting Cardiology or other medical imaging workflows preferred. Familiarity with networking concepts, HL7, DICOM, and software integration is a plus.
