Job description

PROJECT ENGINEER (Utilities) - Tucson, AZ


This role of Project Engineer is responsible for preparation of detailed design drawings and contract documents for water and wastewater infrastructure projects involving water supply (wells), distribution systems and collection systems, as well as storage tanks, booster stations and sewer lift stations. This role includes providing preliminary engineering and final design for projects, which requires experience with hydraulic analysis, profile design, understanding of survey and rights of way requirements. Candidate should have good leadership skills to work with design team. Experience in master planning and sewer and water rehabilitation is a plus.

ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Prepare construction plans, technical specifications, technical studies and reports.
  • Lead/Organize/and Manage small teams of personnel (EIT, designers, and drafters).
  • Provide quality reviews of own work and work by EITs/designers.
  • Assist project manager in preparing and managing project schedules and budgets.
  • Attend and participate in client meetings.
  • Assist in developing marketing proposals (prepare technical understanding and approach).
  • Assist in construction administration of projects, including reviewing and responding to contractor material submittals, RFI's and change order requests.
  • Evaluate company practices and provide input for continuous improvement.
  • Participate in the execution of Company strategic plan.
  • Represent the Company at industry events and conferences.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience using engineering design and office software, including AutoCAD Civil3D, MS Office and others.
  • Ability to mentor and train CAD Designers and Engineers-in-Training.
  • Strong technical writing skills, and ability to convey engineering decisions and concepts to non-technical and technically based audiences.
  • Ability to work within a variety of team environments, including varying team sizes and personnel.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously without sacrificing quality.
  • The ability to consistently meet project deadlines while always maintaining a high level of quality.
  • Ability to effectively communicate to all levels of the project team including Clients, technicians, engineers and subconsultants.

Education and Experience:

  • Must have a B.S. degree in Engineering, Civil preferred
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience preferred

Other Requirements:

  • Registered Professional Civil Engineer (PE) in Arizona or the ability to obtain registration within six months.
  • Must have a valid Arizona driver's license or be able to obtain a valid Arizona driver's license within 3 months of start date.

LOCATION: This opportunity is in our Tucson, Arizona office location
