Job description

Summary: This position will provide prompt, friendly, courteous and reliable service and assistance to customers at the check stand, creating a unique and satisfying shopping experience that will exceed their expectations.

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Must be able to work variable shifts
  • Performs duties in a safe and efficient manner consistent with store safety policies and procedures.
  • Acknowledges and follows all cashier policies and procedures.
  • Operated Cash register to itemize and total customer purchases.
  • Reviews price sheets to note price changes and sale items.
  • Acknowledge, greets, projects a positive attitude and thanks each customer
  • Handles groceries with extreme care, separates like items.
  • Has competency in all aspects of bagging.
  • Collects cash, check or charge payment from customer and tenders accurate change in accordance with store policy and procedures.
  • Handles damaged or spoiled products and return-to-stock according to Front End or store procedures.
  • Performs price checks as needed.
  • Effectively handles customer complaints and contacts a manager when necessary.
  • Maintains an organized and clean work area, cleans belt and register regularly
  • Performs ID checks when expending alcoholic beverage or cigarettes.
