Job Title: Ice Rink Worker Seasonal

Department: PCIA

SUMMARY


The Ice Rink Worker plays a key role in creating a safe, clean, and exciting experience for every guest at the rink. This position supports daily rink operations by maintaining high-quality ice conditions, promoting efficiency and cleanliness throughout the facility, assisting with skate rentals, and delivering outstanding customer service in a fun, fast-paced environment.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Assist customers with skate rentals, returns, and fitting skates properly.
  • Monitor ice rink activities to ensure guest safety and enforce rink rules.
  • Perform routine maintenance such as ice resurfacing (if trained), snow shoveling, and minor equipment upkeep.
  • Keep rink area clean, including lobby, rental areas, and locker rooms.
  • Set up and take down equipment for public skating sessions, hockey games, and special events.
  • Provide courteous and helpful customer service, answering questions and assisting guests as needed.
  • Respond calmly and effectively to emergencies and incidents, following safety procedures.
  • Support rink staff in daily operations as assigned.
  • Skate sharpening experience is an asset but not required (18+) - Training will be provided

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a cold environment for extended periods.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Previous experience in customer service, recreation, or facility operations preferred but not required.
CERTIFICATIONS



LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to cleaning chemicals. The noise level in the work environment can occasionally be loud, requiring the use for personal protective equipment (PPE). The Ice Arena is a cold environment, with the hazardous of slipping and falling on the ice.
