What is an ice assistant?

Ice Assistants are support staff who help maintain ice surfaces such as skating rinks or arenas. Their duties typically include resurfacing the ice, ensuring safety regulations are followed, setting up equipment, and assisting with event or game preparations. Ice Assistants may also help with cleaning, minor repairs, and customer service for skaters or athletes. The role is important for keeping ice facilities safe, clean, and ready for use.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be an ice assistant?

To thrive as an Ice Assistant, you need a solid understanding of ice maintenance, basic mechanical skills, and familiarity with safety protocols, often supported by on-the-job training or experience in a similar environment.
