Job description

MicroHealth is seeking an experienced IBM Sterling Integration Engineer to lead the design, architecture, and implementation of enterprise-level system integrations connecting customer platforms through EDI, APIs, and event-driven architectures. This senior leadership position requires a seasoned technical architect with 8+ years of hands-on expertise in the IBM Sterling software suite to enable customer onboarding, automation, visibility, and self-service capabilities across ERP systems (Oracle) and customer applications.
The IBM Sterling Integration Engineer will serve as the technical authority responsible for setting architectural standards and leading integration projects from conception through deployment. This role demands deep expertise in IBM B2B Integrator, EDI standards, cloud platforms, and modern integration patterns. The ideal candidate will combine advanced technical skills with strategic thinking to architect scalable, secure, and high-performance integration solutions that support business-critical operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design and architect enterprise-level EDI platforms from the ground up with comprehensive knowledge of all Sterling Integrator components
  • Develop and optimize complex business processes using BPML/BPML2 for orchestration and workflow automation
  • Create advanced EDI maps using Sterling Map Editor supporting X12, EDIFACT, TRADACOMS, and XML standards
  • Implement high-volume translation, enveloping/de-enveloping, and compliance validation processes
  • Configure and optimize Sterling Integrator services, adapters, code lists, and business processes
  • Perform system administration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting using Sterling logs, message tracking, and monitoring tools
  • Architect and implement secure B2B communication protocols including AS2, SFTP, FTPS, HTTPS, and OFTP2
  • Design and develop EDI integrations supporting X12, EDIFACT, XML/EDI, and CICA standards
  • Build REST and SOAP API integrations with expertise in XML, JSON, XSLT, and XPath
  • Implement secure communications including TLS/SSL handshake configuration, PGP/GPG encryption, and certificate lifecycle management
  • Design any-to-any mapping solutions connecting diverse data formats and systems
  • Lead integration projects connecting IBM Sterling with Oracle ERP and other enterprise applications
  • Develop EDI mapping solutions for Oracle with deep understanding of Oracle data structures and business processes
  • Design event-driven integrations enabling real-time data synchronization across platforms
  • Implement customer onboarding workflows and self-service capabilities
  • Support and maintain IBM Sterling Business Suite components including:
    • Sterling B2B Integrator
    • Sterling File Gateway
    • Sterling Control Center
    • Sterling External Authentication Server
    • Sterling Secure Proxy
    • Sterling Connect:Direct
  • Perform system administration tasks including user management, security configuration, and system monitoring

  • Perform advanced troubleshooting of Sterling B2B Integrator issues using logs, message tracking, and diagnostic tools
  • Resolve complex integration failures, performance bottlenecks, and connectivity issues
  • Analyze network connections, ports, database configurations, and protocol-specific problems
  • Provide production support and incident resolution for critical integration workflows
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or related field required
  • Minimum 8+ years of hands-on technical experience with IBM Sterling software suite required
  • Proven track record architecting and implementing enterprise-level EDI platforms from the ground up
  • Extensive experience with IBM Sterling B2B Integrator deployment architecture, design, and development
  • Prior experience leading EDI migration projects
  • Experience integrating with Oracle ERP systems highly desirable
  • Background supporting EAI and B2B integration tools
  • Expert-level development and architecture in IBM Sterling B2B Integrator (SBI)
  • Advanced Business Process Modeling using BPML/BPML2 for design, orchestration, and optimization
  • Complex EDI map development using Sterling Map Editor supporting X12, EDIFACT, TRADACOMS
  • High-volume translation, enveloping/de-enveloping, and compliance validation
  • Deep troubleshooting skills using Sterling logs, message tracking, and monitoring tools
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Sterling Integrator components including code lists, business processes, mapping, and administration
  • Mastery of B2B communication protocols: AS2, SFTP, FTPS, HTTPS, OFTP2
  • Advanced EDI standards knowledge: X12, EDIFACT, XML/EDI, CICA
  • Strong integration experience with REST, SOAP, XML, JSON, XSLT, XPath
  • Secure communications expertise: TLS/SSL handshake troubleshooting, PGP/GPG encryption, certificate lifecycle management
  • Any-to-any mapping capabilities across diverse data formats and systems
Technical Skills:
  • Deep understanding of network connections, ports, and database concepts
